Brand and Identity Design—Johnson Tiles
Project Overview
At Johnson Tiles, I designed and refreshed a number of company logos:
Johnson by Design
As a bespoke tile design service offered by Johnson Tiles, Johnson by Design allows its architectural and commercial customers to design tiles to their preferences. Accordingly, it was important that this service and logo speak to these customer bases, and this was achieved using a refined, designer aesthetic, in the use of the serif font, with the italised ‘by’ capturing the bespoke nature of the service.Smart Grip
Johnson Tiles recently launched a new product with ‘SmartGrip’ technology, that enables the tile surface to be smooth when dry, and grippy when wet. Conveying technological advancement, and manufacturing processes, through strong bold type that is italicised, the logo captures the idea of forward movement. Further, the underline represents both the smooth surface, and grip as it connects to the stem of the ‘p’.Factory Outlet
In order to better convey to the retail and trade segment, a brand refresh was undertaken for the Trade Centre, which was rebranded to the 'Factory Outlet'. For the brand design, it was important to capture a ‘budget friendly’ quality to the logo, and be more representative of a factory appeal, to which large bold typeface was used to stand out, but also have added character and texture in the worn aspect to the design.Design Skills
